United Site Services is Poised to Reduce Petroleum Usage for Its Large Fleet of Service and Delivery Vehicles

United Site Services (USS), the nation’s leading provider of portable restrooms and temporary fence, recently joined Clean Cities' National Clean Fleets Partnership (NCFP), a public-private initiative within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) program to help large private fleets reduce petroleum consumption. The NCFP provides fleets with resources, expertise, and support to incorporate alternative fuels and fuel-saving measures into company operations.

USS provides services to nearly 140,000 customers across the United States through carefully planned aggregate routes. The company’s decision to join the NCFP will positively affect the planning of those routes and lead to reduced petroleum use in service and delivery vehicles. In the past year, USS has also acquired several other companies, including Johnny On The Spot, Progressive Waste Solutions, Readilite & Barricade, and NSC Restrooms, which has given the company the opportunity to expand its already large fleet of vehicles.

The company has already invested several years in industry-leading sustainability practices across its more than 80 operations. Jim Cashman, the company's senior vice president and chief operating officer, said USS' decision to partner with Clean Cities is coupled with the company’s standing commitment to make sensible choices that reduce environmental impact.

“As an industry leader, we feel a responsibility to work with DOE to tackle our energy challenges,” Cashman said. “USS has a sizeable fleet of service and delivery vehicles and, through this partnership, can generate better, more efficient ways to operate.”
