In 2013 the [Greater Washington Region Clean Cities](http://www.afdc.energy.gov/cleancities/coalition/greater-washington) coalition teamed with the National Mall in an effort to modernize its high-profile fleet and acquire two plug-in electric vehicles four electric vehicle charging stations (two for public use) and idle-reduction technologies.
