AT&T, a National Clean Fleets Partner and a leading global provider of entertainment, mobile, high-speed Internet and voice services, recently hosted a DRIVE THE DREAM Ride-and-Drive Summer Celebration EV event in conjunction with the California Plug-In Electric Vehicle Collaborative for hundreds of employees in California. The event was the first in a series of summer test drive events that make up a statewide education initiative aimed at helping California reach a milestone of 250,000 EVs purchased in the state by the end of the year.

AT&T California is doing its part by encouraging its 36,000 employees statewide to consider an EV when purchasing their next personal car. In addition to reminding employees to take advantage of local, state and federal EV incentives, AT&T California President Ken McNeely announced numerous company discounts where employees can save an average of $3,279 off the MSRP on select vehicles. McNeely also announced that the company is evaluating options to increase the number of EV charging stations for California employees.

"The future depends on the well-being of our planet," McNeely said. "AT&T is committed to reducing our own carbon footprint—improving the efficiency of our network and making our own fleet more fuel and carbon efficient. Now, we are asking our employees to help make a difference in reducing greenhouse gas emissions for the good of our state."

Through the National Clean Fleets Partnership, the U.S Department of Energy's Clean Cities program works with large private fleets to cut petroleum use. The initiative provides fleets with resources, expertise, and support to incorporate alternative fuels and fuel-saving measures into their operations.
