New Jersey Compressed Natural Gas Refuse Trucks, Shuttle Buses and Infrastructure

The New Jersey Compressed Natural Gas Refuse Trucks, Shuttle Buses, and Infrastructure Project was the first state-wide alternative fuel vehicle deployment program in New Jersey. The project deployed more than 300 natural gas refuse haulers and shuttle buses belonging to 15 public and private fleets, and six new compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations throughout the state, including: Newark, Camden, Trenton, Morris County, and Egg Harbor Township. The initiative also included activities to educate the public and other fleets about the benefits of using clean burning, domestically produced natural gas in vehicles.

Mid-Atlantic Electric School Bus Experience Project

The Mid-Atlantic Electric School Bus Experience Project (MEEP) provides electric school buses for short-term demonstrations at no charge for selected school fleets in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Electric school buses are an exciting tool for school districts as they can reduce operating costs, improve local air quality, achieve sustainability goals, and protect the health of children. The objective of the project is to provide local school districts (school administrators, mechanics, drivers, faculty, and students) with experience operating electric school buses in their fleets and to generate detailed, in-use data and information to allow other school districts to make future procurement decisions.

Northeast Electric Highways Study

The objective of the project is to deploy an innovative study approach forecast electric charging demand at traffic stops on freight corridors across the Northeast (ME, MA, NH, VT, RI, CT, NY, PA and NJ). This will then serve as the basis for developing a Regional Charging plan for an infrastructure deployment roadmap. The project is being lead by National Grid and involves five Clean Cities Coalitions: Clean Communities of Central New York, Eastern Pennsylvania Clean Transportation Alliance, New Jersey Clean Cities, Greater New Haven Clean Cities, and Vermont Clean Cities.

Long Island Regional Energy Collaborative "Promoting a Green Economy through Clean Transportation Alternatives"

Greater Long Island Clean Cities Coalition, along with its partners, promoted the use of a variety of alternative fuels for vehicles, which has allowed the low-carbon vehicle industry to grow and expand throughout Long Island. The program offered businesses and municipalities the flexibility to use alternatives that meet specific business needs. The project supported the installation of four CNG stations and 157 alternative fuel vehicles throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
